Background

The Gujarat government has approved final eligibility certificates, enabling financial assistance for 23 major industrial units across the state. The officials report that these approvals will create approximately 5,634 job opportunities and establish new economic development pathways that will particularly benefit young people.

The committee meeting, chaired by Deputy Chief Minister Harsh Sanghvi, approved the proposals, which confirmed Gujarat’s status as an attractive investment location for businesses. The approvals come under two key schemes that aim to support industrial expansion and strengthen the business environment.

Government approvals of INR 770.29 crore from twenty-two large Industrial Units are cleared under the Industrial Policy 2015. Moreover, under the Atmanirbhar Gujarat Scheme 2022, an investment proposal of ₹837.67 crores has been cleared for a unit operated in the Panchmahal District.

Some of the incentives offered by the state include the refund of the net SGST, the interest subsidy, and the reimbursement of the EPF contributions. According to officials, these benefits create an incentive for both large industries and MSMEs, which serves to establish an industrial ecosystem that supports business growth.

Ahmedabad District receives auto sector approvals of ₹186.77 crore, while Surat District receives textile, paper and allied sector approvals worth ₹148.34 crore. Gandhinagar District receives metal and minerals funding of ₹81.09 crore, while Sabarkantha District receives similar sector funding of ₹57.90 crore. Panchmahal secures ₹15.80 crore under one category, along with the major ₹837.67 crore investment.

Other districts also receive support. Bharuch gets ₹186.57 crore in chemicals, Banaskantha ₹26.07 crore in agro products, Mehsana ₹25.89 crore in engineering, Rajkot ₹9.82 crore in auto, Valsad ₹13.30 crore in engineering, and Surendranagar ₹18.74 crore in metals.

The government says these approvals boost industrial growth and support long-term economic development across the state.
