Key Background

Honda has increased its 125 cc models in India with the official launch of the “Honda CB125 Hornet.” With a dream of fusing sportiness and cutting-edge technology, this latest motorcycle aims at youthful urban motorcycle riders and is up against industry leaders such as the Hero Xtreme 125R. While the Indian two-wheeler industry is running leaps and bounds, particularly the 125 cc segment, Honda is positioning the CB125 Hornet as a premium yet affordable one.

The CB125 Hornet is powered by an air-cooled, 123.94 cc single cylinder engine which develops 11 hp at 7,500 rpm and 11.2 Nm of torque at 6,000 rpm. Drive is a 5-speed gearbox, although Honda claims a class-leading 0–60 km/h acceleration time of only 5.4 seconds. The CB125 Hornet is thus among the fastest in its class, something which will appeal to commuting specialists who like performance.

In terms of design and hardware, the Hornet is a statement. It features aggressive bodywork with angular LED headlight, chiselled fuel tank and broad tubeless tyres. That it boasts upside-down (USD) front forks—a luxury unknown in this class—along with the 5-step adjustable rear monoshock, is a plus. Braking is from a 240 mm front disc with single-channel ABS and a rear drum brake for maximum safety.

Honda has not even cut corners on technology. The motorcycle gets a 4.2-inch TFT digital instrument cluster that also includes Bluetooth connectivity and support for the RoadSync app, which provides turn-by-turn navigation, call alert, and media access. Other features such as USB-C charging, kill switch for the engine, side-stand engine cut-off, split seats, and tank-mounted ignition add to the experience.

Coming in four bold dual-tone shades, the CB125 Hornet is all set to woo the youth customers seeking a combination of style, performance, and intelligent features. Pre-bookings will be available from August 1, and prices will be revealed soon. Honda is grabbing this launch as a major step to head off competitors and increase its presence in the 125 cc premium commuter segment.
