Key Background:

Omega Seiki Mobility (OSM), India’s electric vehicle pioneer, has launched a revolutionary Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) program to empower women through green mobility. Under the program, OSM will supply 2,500 pink electric auto-rickshaws to women drivers at significantly reduced prices, continuing the company’s focus on gender balance and sustainable living.

The scheme was launched in New Delhi, with the initial batch of 500 women drivers. The scheme will then be rolled out in other major cities such as Bangalore, North Karnataka, and Chennai. The pink e-autos are not just symbolic of safety but of possibility—mobile livelihoods for women who aspire to economic independence.

For the initiative to be sustainable and impactful in the long term, OSM has collaborated with Nari Shakti Women Welfare Charitable Trust, a nonprofit trust based in Delhi. As part of this collaboration, the selected women will receive training in auto driving, road safety, and financial management. This integrated approach is intended to empower the women to acquire the desired competency and confidence to perform well in a competitive city transport setting.

The scheme also carries a money-back incentive as a 1% vehicle finance interest subsidy in collaboration with an institution that tops the government-owned list of financiers. It not only decreases the cost outlay for likely female drivers but enhances the financial sustainability of their business in the future as well.

The roll-out of pink e-cars is part of a larger, national initiative to increase the role and visibility of women in mass transport. By making e-mobility more accessible and empowering, Omega Seiki Mobility is paving the way towards a paradigm of inclusive growth that balances social, green, and economic goals at the same time.
