Renewable energy company ACME Solar has begun operations of a 68-megawatt capacity from its 100-megawatt wind power project in Surendranagar district of Gujarat, the company said on Monday. The project is being commissioned in phases through its subsidiary, ACME Eco Clean Energy Pvt Ltd.
ACME Solar added that the latest phase involved the commissioning of 12 MW, taking the project’s total operational capacity to 68 MW. The remaining capacity will be commissioned in the coming stages, the company said in a statement.
The electricity generated from the wind project will be sold under a 25-year Power Purchase Agreement signed between ACME Eco Clean Energy and Gujarat Urja Vikas Nigam Limited, the state-run power distribution company. The long-term agreement is expected to provide stable revenue for the project while supporting Gujarat’s renewable energy goals.
The wind power project has been financed by Power Finance Corporation, a government-owned financial institution that supports India’s power sector. ACME Solar said the funding reflects continued lender confidence in large-scale renewable energy projects.
