The Gujarat Industries Power Company Limited, which operates as a power utility in Gujarat, has chosen Smt.

Shalini Agarwal, IAS to serve as an Additional Director (Nominee) on its board, thus enhancing the board’s capacity to manage administrative matters and energy sector operations. The decision was taken during a board meeting held in the fourth week of April, following recommendations from the Nomination and Remuneration Committee.

The company said it completed the appointment in line with regulatory requirements and informed stock exchanges through official filings. The board meeting lasted over two hours and focused on governance and strategic matters, including the new induction.

Smt. Agarwal is a 2005 batch Indian Administrative Service officer of the Gujarat Cadres. She has been a good careerist in different fields like revenue administration, district management and urban management. Her first posting was as Assistant Collector, and she worked in other positions, including District Development Officer and District Collector, in other districts, including Vadodara and Kheda.

Moreover, she has participated in the management of cities as she has been appointed Municipal Commissioner in major cities like Surat and Vadodara, managing large-scale projects in areas of sanitation, development of infrastructure, and smart city projects. Also, Smt. Agarwal has worked in the area of financial administration as the Additional Commissioner of Commercial Tax.

At present, she is Managing Director of Gujarat Urja Vikas Nigam Limited and Director of Gujarat Fibre Grid Network Limited.

The company confirmed that she is independent of existing board members and faces no regulatory restrictions. Her appointment is expected to enhance governance and support the company’s long-term growth in the energy sector.
