Key Background :
Tata Motors has made a bold move in India’s EV market by introducing the Tata Harrier EV, which is priced at ₹21.49 lakh (ex-showroom). The flagship electric SUV is the first in the group’s EV portfolio to have all-wheel drive, highlighting Tata’s increasing technical strength in the EV space.
Based on Tata’s new Acti.ev platform, the Harrier EV comes with rear-wheel-drive and all-wheel-drive options. The SUV inherits most of the ICE Harrier’s design cues but incorporates characteristic EV elements such as a shut-off front grille, reprofiled bumpers, EV-specific aerodynamic wheels, and distinctive ‘EV’ badges. The Harrier EV is available in four premium colours: Pristine White, Nainital Nocturne, Empowered Oxide, and Pure Grey.
The Harrier EV is offered in two battery options—a 65 kWh unit driving a solitary rear motor and a larger 75 kWh pack with a dual-motor AWD setup. The range-topping version has a combined output of 396 hp and 504 Nm of torque, getting from 0 to 100 km/h in a mere 6.3 seconds. With an estimated 627 km (MIDC) range, it offers to put range anxiety far behind for prospective buyers.
In terms of interior features, the Harrier EV is filled with high-end amenities such as an enormous 14.5-inch Samsung Neo QLED touchscreen infotainment system, a 12.25-inch digital driver display, powered and ventilated front seats, dual-zone climate control, a panoramic sunroof, and a JBL sound system with Dolby Atmos 5.1. OTA software updates and Tata’s DrivePay feature for hassle-free digital payments at charging stations contribute to the technologically advanced character.
Safety features are also very strong, such as six airbags, Level 2 ADAS (Advanced Driver Assistance Systems), a 360-degree camera, a dashcam integrated, and a very unique 540-degree camera view that aids in confined urban driving situations and off-road driving.
With this launch, Tata Motors reasserts its dominance in the Indian EV market, as well as establishes a new standard in the premium electric SUV space. The Harrier EV is designed to appeal to technology-conscious, performance-oriented customers seeking an attractive, functional, and eco-friendly mobility solution.
